11/6/03
British Midland Airways selection of Rockwell Collins to provide
avionics is just more good news for Rockwell Collins. The
company is now up 91% since we recommended it. Over the same
time period, the S&P 500 is down 1.1%. The company's press
release follows.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Nov. 6, 2003) - British
Midland Airways Ltd., trading as bmi, has selected Rockwell
Collins to supply communications, navigation and surveillance
equipment for up to nine new Airbus 319 aircraft. Deliveries
are scheduled to begin next year.
The avionics package selected by bmi includes
the Collins WXR-2100 MultiScan weather radar. The MultiScan
radar optimizes short- and long-range weather detection at
all times without requiring pilot adjustment to the radar
tilt control, and alerts flight crews during takeoff and approach
of potentially dangerous windshear.
Other flight deck equipment includes Collins
VHF and HF communication radios as well as traffic alert and
collision avoidance systems (TCAS), ADF, VOR, DME, transponders
and antennas.
