Hotels Group
12/29/2005
With today's news that United Kingdom-based
Hilton Group will
sell its hotel business to US-based Hilton Hotels for
$5.7 billion, many analysts are expecting further consolidation
in the hotel industry. Standard & Poor's and MarketWatch.com
are reporting that London-based InterContinental Hotels Group
(IHG) may be a takeover target. One potential suitor for IHG
is Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
InterContinental Hotels Group owns more
than 3,500 hotels with over 500,000 rooms. Brands include
Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Hotels and
Resorts, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood
Suites, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, and Hotel Indigo.
InterContinental Hotels Group is part of
our Primary
Stock Portfolio. With one trading day left in 2005, this
portfolio is once again easily beating the S&P 500 for
the 8th year in a row.
