InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), whose stock is up 60.1%
since we recommended the company in July 2003, won another
award, this time given by the editors of Global Finance Magazine.
For the second year in a row, IHG won for being the "best
hotel company" in Latin America. Excerpts from the company's
announcement follow.
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 2004--Internationally
renowned Global Finance Magazine, who boasts readers in 158
countries, today selected InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG)
as "Best Hotel Company" in Latin America for the
second year in a row. Global Finance editors recognized InterContinental
Hotels Group in its seventh annual ranking of the 'best companies
in Latin America.'
"The list of winners in Latin America
in 2004 is almost identical to 2003," said publisher
Joseph Giarraputo. "This demonstrates that corporate
quality is not a passing attribute but often is an integral
part of a company's organizational DNA. The companies we ultimately

Winners were chosen based on a specified
criteria, which included reviewing revenue and profitability
growth, market capitalization growth, social responsibility,
percentage of revenue and employees outside the home country,
technology or product breakthrough, merger and acquisition
success, crisis control and aggressiveness in market building.
