InterContinental Hotels Group

Largest Hotel Co. (60.1% Gain in 15 Months) Wins Another Award

10/16/2004 InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), whose stock is up 60.1% since we recommended the company in July 2003, won another award, this time given by the editors of Global Finance Magazine. For the second year in a row, IHG won for being the "best hotel company" in Latin America. Excerpts from the company's announcement follow.

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 2004--Internationally renowned Global Finance Magazine, who boasts readers in 158 countries, today selected InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) as "Best Hotel Company" in Latin America for the second year in a row. Global Finance editors recognized InterContinental Hotels Group in its seventh annual ranking of the 'best companies in Latin America.'

"The list of winners in Latin America in 2004 is almost identical to 2003," said publisher Joseph Giarraputo. "This demonstrates that corporate quality is not a passing attribute but often is an integral part of a company's organizational DNA. The companies we ultimately select possess the fundamental qualities necessary to attain excellence."

Winners were chosen based on a specified criteria, which included reviewing revenue and profitability growth, market capitalization growth, social responsibility, percentage of revenue and employees outside the home country, technology or product breakthrough, merger and acquisition success, crisis control and aggressiveness in market building.

"We are flattered to receive such strong support from individuals that we consider to be our corporate peers in Latin America," says Alvaro Diago, Area President of InterContinental Hotels Group Latin America. "Our roots are in Latin America, and we have been in the region for an un-interrupted 58 years now. From the onset of the company, our goal has been to meet, and exceed our guests' expectations.

"We have worked to provide a broad range of brands to our guests, and proudly continue to set the standard of hospitality for today's traveler," adds Diago.

InterContinental Hotels Group - whose brands include InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Select, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Sunspree and Staybridge Suites hotels - continues reinforcing its position as Latin America's leading hotel company through aggressive expansion and the evolution of services and amenities specifically focused on both Latin America travelers, and travelers to Latin America. InterContinental Hotels Group has hotels in almost every key financial center throughout Central and South America.
